V6 Super Rods have been round the Oval raceways for a number of years under different identities.They are the Big cars of Oval racing. They started life in the early 1970`s at Hednesford Hills under the name of Modern Stock cars, and then changed to Speed cars, Spedeworth also ran a similar formula called Super Rods, after some years both sets of cars were racing together and one set of rules was needed and they became Super Rods.

After a period of decline, with help from new areas and the support of major UK promotors in 2009, V6 Super Rods enjoyed fresh interest from drivers and spectators in 2009 leading to a 16 date fixture list in 2010.
